When it’s raining in your local area, get yourself a free pint of Murphy’s stout.

This campaign and app was developed along with several collaborations with Publicis Groupe for Heineken owned stout Murphy’s.

The campaign was a cheeky response to a Budweiser campaign that promoted getting a free beer when it was sunny for a number of hours in Ireland. A rare event indeed.

So instead, Murphy’s gave out free beer when it rained to a certain level in Ireland, a far more likely occurrence!

The platform used mobile geo-location and geo-fencing along with data from multiple rain monitoring stations in co-operation with the Irish Meteorological Service.

Customers could download the app, and would get alerts and a time stamped voucher to go redeem a free pint of Murphy’s at their local.

Originally planned as a one off 3 month campaign, but due to it’s success it was repeated over several years.
